How To Make Your Windows Sparkle With Natural And Inexpensive Products

Posted on

If your home's windows are dirty and you dread having to clean them, then you are not alone. Window cleaning is typically the last thing homeowners want to do. However, clean windows make your home look a lot nicer and will greatly improve your family's view of the outdoors.

To make your home's windows sparkle without having to use expensive glass cleaner or any other cleaning chemicals, you should use this procedure:

Step 1: Gather the Necessary Supplies to Wash and Dry Your Windows

To wash your home's windows without chemicals, you should use white vinegar. In addition, you will need the following supplies:

  • a bottle of distilled water
  • an empty spray bottle
  • newspaper

To make your natural window cleaner, it is very important that you use distilled water rather than tap water or spring water. Distilled water has had all of the minerals naturally present in water removed from it. Since the minerals are what form spots on your clean windows, this will help make your cleaning job easier and will make your windows look better.

Step 2: Mix a Vinegar and Distilled Water Solution and Put it in a Spray Bottle

Into the spray bottle, add equal parts of white vinegar and distilled water. White vinegar is a mild acid that works well to dissolve and loosen dirt and grime on your windows. It also works well to dissolve the scale from rainwater minerals on the outside of your home's windows. In addition, vinegar will not make streaks on your windows because it does not contain any oils.

Step 3: Spray Each Window and Dry It with Newspaper

For the best results, clean your home's windows in the early morning or late evening. This will ensure that the glass is not too hot from the sun. Glass that is hot will cause the cleaning fluid to evaporate quickly and will make cleaning the windows more difficult.

Spray the inside and outside of each window with the natural vinegar solution. Let it sit on the window for a moment so that the acid has time to work and dissolve any dirt and scale. If the window dries quickly, then spray it again and then immediately wipe it down with newspaper. While you may be tempted to use paper towels or a rag to clean the windows, the newspaper is much better because it will not shed paper fibers onto your cleaned windows.
